Hi, Thanks for dropping in
I’m Richard Platts, a UK-based hobbyist photographer capturing everything from motorsport and landscapes to wildlife. My main focus is wildlife photography, particularly birds and mammals, including large mammals and big cats in captivity—showcasing detail, character, and presence in every image.

My interest in photography started at a very young age. I’ve always been curious about the world around me – drawn to details, light, and moments that others might overlook.
Everything truly began when my parents bought me my first SLR camera at around ten years old – a Zenith E. It was fully manual, solid, and far from forgiving, but it taught me the fundamentals from the very start. Learning to understand light, focus, and composition through that camera sparked something that never left me.
From that point on, photography became more than just taking pictures. I photographed anything I could – wildlife, landscapes, and everyday scenes – slowly developing my style through practice, patience, and plenty of trial and error.
Over the years, as my equipment evolved, so did my approach. What started with that first SLR grew into a lifelong passion and a way of telling stories through images. Today, every photograph I take is still rooted in that early excitement – the simple joy of capturing a moment and preserving it forever.
